Extra Vitamin C and E Don’t Prevent Preeclampsia

WEDNESDAY, April 26 (HealthDay News) — New research suggests that taking large doses of vitamins C and E won’t prevent preeclampsia, a relatively common but potentially dangerous pregnancy complication.

In a study of nearly 2,000 women pregnant for the first time, researchers found that the addition of these antioxidant vitamins didn’t decrease the rate of preeclampsia or lower the risk of complications for infants of women with preeclampsia.

Women and Depression

Depression is a complex matter. In recent years, with burgeoning research progress, we are finding out that depression is much more common than many of us thought.

At least 15% (and likely more) of women take an antidepressant during their lifetime. Depression is much more common in women than in men, but the reason for this female predominance is unclear.
