It’s getting close to summer, which means it’s time to start shaping up for bikini weather.
Yes, even you skinny girls! You see, cellulite could care less if you’re thin or overweight.
Cellulite has no favorites. So whether you’re carrying some extra weight, are underweight or somewhere in between, if you’ve got estrogen and a genetic predisposition, chances are you know what I’m talking about. Luckily there are a number of things we can do to rid ourselves from those ugly dimples and nothing could be more rewarding than sharing these skincare tips with you.
Cellulite is caused by connective tissue bands that hold down the skin, which trap the fat, thereby cause the “dimpling” effect. Millions of women and even some men have cellulite, so you’re not alone. Most causes are weight gain, genetic predisposition, and inevitable hormone changes. These factors cause fat cells to increase up to 300 times their normal size and stick together inside the pockets in which they’re enclosed. Once these pockets are stretched and the connecting fibers are strained, toxins are trapped and normal circulation is inhibited.
There are indeed some costly and fairly effective ways to get rid of this “cottage cheese” appearance such as Endermologie and Mesotherapy which will be discussed in part two of this series. However, in the meantime there are many things we can do that aren’t as costly and intrusive. These include many skin care creams and gels available today which seem to work well. For the best outcome with these preparations be sure that the product contains caffeine. However, conversely consuming too much caffeine or carbonated soda can aggravate and worsen the condition.
One of the best ways to combat cellulite is with exercise. This is effective not only because of its toning and weight loss component but because it contributes to good circulation. Poor circulation is one of the main contributing factors. Active people have better circulation. So get those legs moving by working out daily or even by taking a brisk walk. Along with exercise and a proper diet, massage your problem areas with your skincare cream or gel — and be fairly vigorous. This will help break up fat deposits and the collagen bands that are holding the fat deposits together as well as stimulate that much needed circulation.
